POLL: Does ANYONE like this map?

This map is WAY better than the "put yer cv up next to enemy base and have it cover yer AAA needs".

For LW, the other map was extremely boring. Fly for a long while get shot down by CV ack. Spent much time trying to avoid the silly cv's, and, when I found them, dive bombing it with a JU88 just to get it removed from the general area.

New map has more furballs, but also bigger potential for old style base captures. I like  it.

My only real complaint with the map is the obvious invitation to fly off the map to hit enemy dar. It is most disgusting to continually see dar bar suddenly "pop up" over the HQ when there were no enemy planes on the map in the sectors around the dar.

Otherwise I do like this map as it seems to spread the combat out a bit more.

i dont mind a mostly ground map ( i only started playing 1/2 way through last tour ) though i am disappointed at the lack of terrain /variety of features. from what little i've learned about the terrain editor, it is fiendishly difficult to use so please don't think i'm squeaking unnecessarily....


1) the fact that it IS a furball map means i have plenty of good opportunities to practice dog fighting :-)

2) ALTHOUGH it seems less tactical than the last map and.....

3) it looks like a uterus,

4) and due to the map shape/distribution of the airfields whichever side has the highest concentration  of units seems to prevail.

Right now, I don't like it.

There are really only two fronts and both are typically huge furballs. OTOH, the maps are still new enough that I haven't seen any new strategies develop. Most are using brute force to advance. It seems that the three islands in the middle are key to multi-axis attacks.

I may change my mind in a month once I get used to it. The new map and the new planes have brought new problems to face. This is probably a good thing.

I think it is OK. Gang-banging has always been a problem on ALL maps I've used (started back in v1.03).

I've always liked the ground war - jaboing with the tiffie is ace. This letss me get back to that.

There's nothing wrong with furballs - if you really want 1v1 go to the TA or historical arena, or even offer someone out on ch. 1. Moreover, there are always areas of the map that are quiet and you can precipitate an engagement there.

I like certain aspects of it. I would like to see another bomber base at 3 or 4k to promote more strategic offensives. Most guys only wanna jabo now. I have FITS trying to get rooks to do bombing duty.

I for one LIKE the fleet. BTW the CV goes down much easier now, and the ack are survivable. I have sunk 5 CV's this tour. I survived 3 of the missions. Not all in one piece mind you, but still flew home.

You wanna discourage ack running? Get alt and come booming in.
