Both sides were much more efficient than last week which resulted in an even tighter frame this week than last...
A strong offensive frame for the Japanese gave them an advantage in the objective scoring, but the price they paid in aircraft gave the overall frame score to the USN. At sea, the Hornet and Hiryu were both sunk along with a cruiser each. Midway suffered light damage with some strat targets and a few gun emplacements destroyed. No other objectives scored offensive points. In the air, the Japanese lost 60% of its A6M force, 67% of its D3A force, and 90% of its B5Ns. The USN lost 46% of F4F, 50% of SBD, and 55% of TBMs. Both sides exceeded the number of fighters allocated so both sides incur a 2% penalty for that. Another member of the USN armed his TBM with bombs, and therefore the USN receives an additional 2% penalty. Both sides failed to meet the minimum numbers of attack aircraft, but the orders assigned sufficient aircraft to meet the requirement, and therefore, no penalty is assessed.
The Tally:
USN A2A 39.1
IJN A2A 28.4
USN OBJ 22.5
IJN OBJ 26.75
Penalties:
USN -4%
IJN -2%
Grand Totals:
USN 57.6
IJN 53.2
