Keep in mind that the Germans had many AA vehicle types armed with either a quad of 20mm cannons or a single 37mm cannon mount that were produced in large numbers.  The Wirbelwind and Ostwind are just rare for being mounted on a Panzer IV chasis.  Frankly, that is an inefficient use of a Panzer IV chasis.

I had heard of the Wirbel and Osti. The funny one is, the only thing in AH I hadn't heard of before (And theyre in my books too! I dont know how I missed them!) were the Typhie and the Tempest. When I first saw them in the hangar I sat there for a second staring at them going "WTF is that under their nose?!?"

In WWII i have never heard of the ostwind or the wirbelwind.
I even have a friend that knows everything about WWII (he can name every varient of all planes/gvs and their armament)
and i acked him about it and he said he has never even heard of it.

i know it is real because it is in the game but what were some battles it fought in, some pictures, etc.

i know it is real because it is in the game

That belongs in a sig file somewhere.  Anyone have a clue-by-four?

Probably, since of the 44 ostwinds, 36 were converted from existing PzKpfW IV chassis while 7 were produced. The same would probably apply to the Wirbelwind as well. (www.wwiivehicles.com)

Indeed. Was I the only one who built that 1/48 scale Monogram kit of the Wirbel as a kid?

They weren't 1/48 - they were 1/32 scale - kinda oddball for armor as the standard scale was 1/35.

Brings back a lot of old memories - ain't no telling how many of those Monogram armor kits I built and blew up. LOL!   :devil

My favorite was always the JAGDPANZER.   :aok

You're right. Pardon an old man and his foggy memories :). I never could bring myself to blow mine up. Too much hours invested building and airbrushing. (Now my best friend had a 1/35 scale Panther that got the full M-80 treatment, but that was his, so Screw It :D)
