B25-C possible little bug (rudder trim indicator)
« on: November 28, 2008, 04:03:56 AM »
In the SE Arena yesterday I noticed that the B25-C rudder trim is backwards. I had 1 engine dead (oil) So I decided to play with the trims, when I pressed J the rudder trim indicator went to the R side and vice-versa when I pressed L. I didnt re-map my keys so, am I wrong ?

Mine does the same thing Chewi.  I looked at the rudders in 'F3' mode', while pressing J and L.  The trim is moving correctly to the corresponding keys, but the indicator says left when I push right.

only thing i can think of is if the b25 used servo tabs, which I would imagine, it might be showing the position of them which would be opossite. which may be a bug, or not, I have no idea -- i've noticed alot of ppl have no idea how MOST trim tabs work in real life

Quote
Servo tabs move in the opposite direction of the control surface. The tab has a leverage advantage, being located closer to the trailing edge of the surface and thus can lever the control surface in the opposite direction. This has the effect of reducing the control force required by the pilot to move the controls.[1]

In the case of some aircraft the servo tab is the only control that is connected to the pilot's stick or wheel. The pilot moves the wheel which moves the servo tab and then the servo tab, using its mechanical advantage, moves the elevator or aileron, which is otherwise free-floating.

In game trim tabs aren't modeled (at least graphically), the control surfaces just move slightly.
