Bah -- it's above freezing.  That's a balmy winter compared to Michigan where I grew up.  (Although I will hope for absence of freezing rain.)

You have got to visit RAF Museum @ Hendon.  Its a short walk from a tube station (and there is a Model store on the way! least there was in 1999).  It is in London's north Suburbs.

Hendon is definately worth the visit. The Battle of Britain show is quite good, make sure you time your visit so you'll catch it:

Battle of Britain Hall at RAF Museum London. Showing times are daily between 1pm and 5pm, on the hour every hour. Please note that the remainder of the hall will be darkened for the duration (9 minutes) of this presentation.

In case you're not renting a car (as you know, the brits drive on the wrong side of the road), you can easily get to Hendon using the subway (tube). From central London, take the black line northbound and get off at the Colindale station.  Here are the walking directions (9 minutes walk).

And if you are renting a car, get a TomTom (or equivalent) satellite navigation. Just type in the 5 letter zip code of the destination address (zip code is building specific in the UK) and you cant get lost.

If it takes full power to taxi to the hanger, your gear is probably up.

We're off to the airport in a few hours.

We will have the pleasure of meeting up with Wurzel and wife for dinner on Sunday.  On Monday, we are going to meet up with SF3 (megger31) at the Hendon RAF museum, and possibly Wurzel and wife, too, if they'd like to join us.  Fencer, thanks for the suggestion of Hendon.

In the way of WWII-related items, we are so far planning to visit the Hendon, Duxford, and Churchill museums.  (I'm very lucky that my wife likes aircraft and war-history museums.  :aok )

I'll post some pics when we get back.

We visited the RAF Museum in Hendon yesterday.  It's a very nice museum. Here are a couple pics taken by Traci (my wife) of the lads in the Battle of Britain area.

Brooke, SF3, and Wurzel in front of a Hurricane Mk I that flew in the Battle of Britain.

Spitfire and Hurricane out front of the museum, shot at night.

It was excellent meeting Mr. and Mrs. Wurzel and SF3!  They are excellent folks.

I'll post some more pics after we get back.
