An 'If' command...
« on: December 02, 2008, 07:18:54 PM »
Not a dot command, but rather for assigning controls.
I recently got a new stick (dual throttle ftw! :D), and I've noticed, especially with the dual throttles, that some commands only work with one plane.

For example, say you want throttle 1 to be engine 1, and throttle 2 to be engine 2. But, of course not all planes have 2 engines. So, I'd like a section with preset things so that throttle 1 could be engine, and then an if section for throttle 2, *if no engine 2* - throttle 2 is (pre-set command here, ie. rpm).

For the *if* section of the commands, there would be pre-set things for anything you choose, similar to what we have for programming the original command.

Dunno if this would be possible in the near future, but I think it'd be quite an asset in the long run. ;)

Sorry if this is a bit confusing but I'm sick, tired, and blah blah blah and I can't seem to keep focused so this is how it ended up being worded.

There is already some kind of "if", called "Control mode". You have four of them - you can set one of them up for flying 2-engined planes in the way you described above.

I'm aware we have control mode. I use it all the time :D

But what I'm suggesting is the ability to set 1 control to 2 possible things if the primary function isn't there.

Again, the example, throttle 2 = engine 2, but again, not all planes have 2 engines.
So, if there is no second engine, it would immediatly go to a secondary pre-established command, such as RPM.

What the snail means is set up another control mode, Control Mode 3 for example, for dual throttle control and set up a button in Control Mode 1 that will switch you to Control Mode 3 when you are flying multi-engine aircraft.

Set up all the buttons in Control Mode 3 for your "if" scenarios.  Set up the Buttons in Control Mode 1 for your "normal" flying.  This way, you launch and if it is an "if" situation, multi engine fighter, you press the preset button, or key on your keyboard, to switch to Control Mode 3 and voila, a second set of functions for your joystick buttons.

Hope that made sense.

Yup, it did, thanks for the tip, didn't think about control modes, was thinking of the options > controlers (or whatever it is). :D
