P51 dimensions
« on: December 08, 2008, 07:43:02 PM »
Making a model P51 out of wood (hope to start soon, need to wait on dad to get some free time) anyway, i have the wingspan, hieght, length;just would like more nitty gritty specs if at all posible. such as, the hieght, is that at the top of Prop, or tail, or canopy. Also, wingspan is 37 feet, wing area is 233.04 Sq. Ft., how thick would that make the wing at its thickest point? the model should be a 1"=1'.  :salute thanks in advance.

which model of the P-51?  P-51/Mk1, P-51/Mk1A, A-36, P-51a, B, C, D, or H.  I think each in their own way had some slight and some significant difference.

Is this a freelance model or do you have some scale drawings of the P-51?

1/12 scale?  that's.... kinda....  big.  for a scale plane.  wingspan alone will be three feet.

have fun and g'luck.  looking forward to seeing the finished product.

Here are some scale drawings MaSonZ

Would also suggest getting a cheap plastic 1/48 scale for visual reference.

I did a P47D30 out of wood. Turned out great, I used 1:72 scale drawings out of a model.
