Can't get the guns? Get the ammo?
« on: December 10, 2008, 01:07:53 PM »
IMHO this laser etching of ammo plan is pretty useless!

Too many way to beat it!

And very time consuming and expensive!

It's been said we have three brains, one cobbled on top of the next. The stem is first, the reptilian brain; then the mammalian cerebellum; finally the over developed cerebral cortex.  They don't work together in awfully good harmony - hence ax murders, mobs, and socialism.

They tried this here in Kali this past election. Didn't pass even close, along with the lame 'bio-gun' idea.

Great idea!  There is not enough crime related to stolen guns so lets create a market for stolen ammunition too!  A perp would then be after someone else's ammo to commit a crime with...one more way to throw the cops off onto another trail.

Way to go, gun grabbers! :aok

When will they learn that you cannot defeat criminals by screwing with citizens?  Criminals don't care about laws or rules, hence the term "criminal".

They're just looking for ways to jack up the prices on ammo. I've even heard talk that next year they will try to raise that tax on ammunition (most likely handgun, but possibly all of it) by 1,000%. They're trying to make it too expensive to own and shoot personal weapons without actually legislating more controls and regulations.

Oddly enough, sales of guns and ammunition has gone through the roof since election day, the yguys at the shop I frequent have been having to stay several hours after closing to catch up on paperwork, especially on weekends.
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

All that means is more people will learn to reload. Price of ammo has just about caught up to the initial investment of the tools, looks like I'll be shopping soon also.

Then all they gotta do is come after the primers, pretty simple really.

Right now its still cheaper to buy some ammo than to reload. The break even point is some where in between 40 S&W and 45 ACP. Thats counting free labor so if your time is valuable it goes up more. I think I was doing 40 S&Ws for nine cent a piece a few years ago. These were 140 grains hollow points with 9.8 grains of Accurate 10 behind them. A slower burning powder was used for working the comp ports to control muzzle flip. It would shoot smoke stacks from the slow dirty powder and was louder than a 45. I could buy reloads 50 for 7 bucks so I was saving 3 dollars maybe? If I wasnt using the loads for competition the money wasnt worth it. Go to a .222 or 25-06 and I bet youd save a TON of money tho. Those "wildcat" wounds are over 30 bucks for 20 rounds!

I cant believe Alabama agreed to this. Guess I better write to Bob Riley about this. I agree with trieze, this is another way to limit firearm usage without enacting more laws. The price of ammo for hunters will probably go up as well. Since I know someone who does reloads, I just shoot the initial box, get powder and primer, and shoot some more, with not that much invested the second time.

Next thing you know youll have to register your gun once a month just to own it. There is just some stupid things goin on right now that shouldnt be happening. That is all I have to say about that.
