You realize there is a little box in the hanger where you can choose Fighter or Attack (if available).  I mean, you're already choosing a plane, putting on bombs, choosing fuel, and you "forgot" to switch to attack???  And you want HTC to make it easier because youforgot?

Oh please.....

How about, bombs = attack, no bombs = fighter.  Then, you don't need to think or decide.

This is the most viable solution.

No fighter in WWII that was intended to enter into air to air battle would have loaded bombs. Bombs were only loaded when a ground target was the intended use for the fighter. Sure sometimes bombs were dropped to enter into air to air battle, but that was a busted mission. Just like what can happen in the game. You encounter enemy aircraft and have to lighten up to stay alive, the mission is busted.

And that is still in practice today. If there are no ground targets intended for a flight, they don't load ground attack weapons. The planes are loaded with the intended target in mind.

But, changing in mid-flight shouldn't even be considered because you should plan your sortie and load out accodingly. Not, bring everything you can and decide when you reach or don't reach the target.

Ords down, GV attack, I up my IL-2 to do some tank busting and its scored fighter?

Methinks not.

Leave it how it is, people can remember to change it.

But upping as a fighter in an IL-2, or an A-20, is not an option, is it?

Problem averted.

No wrongway its not, but what about other ground-pounders when ENY is high? for example yak-T or maybe an A-8.  Just saying bombs/no bombs is a far worse system than what we have now.
