why not perk all the planes, and change the game so that u only get perk points if u land successfully.  I think that would cut down on the number of suicide bombers and give new players a certain number of points to start with, and allow u to get perk points by manning ship guns and such, this way if u suicide bomb u lose points so maybe people wouldnt do it as much.  I remember one time i shot off someones wingtip and they were losing alt so i turned to head home and they came at shot me from behind.... if ur wingtip fuel tanks etc. shouldnt u head for home?  the new plane sets are fine but when is HTC going to get around to fixing the many gameplay annoyances

Perk them all?   NO way!
It is bad enough that the perk system denies us the ability to fly planes we like, but try to add penalty to everything?  That would be ugly.

I still think a more realistic approach is needed.
What happens if you die in a real plane?  You never come back.
Well, we can't have that here now can we?  :)
Alternative:  Set a timer that will not allow a player to return to flight for X# minutes. (Allow exceptions for crashes so the newbies can learn to fly).
This would nix the carbombers, HO maniacs etc.
As for the HO types...set the timer to max if you die in a HO or collision.  ;)

I can see where this would be ugly too, but more realistic.

First a note for HO whinners, BE A MAN. Secondly the perk all or near all planes sounds great. That other guy doesnt want to perk point planes then whines about HO's, LOL, make up your mind dude don't be a wet noodle spined whinner, if it costs someone points to HO all the time they wont do it if they have any brains at all. And the "your outta the game xx mins." BS is  more drastic than having your planeset limited due to lack of points, with xx min timeouts you don't get a plane at all !

doing a timeout period after u die i doubt would work people probably wouldnt want to spent a few mintues everytime they die,  but with what i said it would cut down on suicide attacks and if u get low on perk points and get shot down alot u can still get points from manning guns, maybe they could even set it so u can get perk points from bombadiering, this way u can always get points back.  I dont mean every plane should coast 70 or higher maybe set the value of each plane at 10 to 20 and start u off with 50 to 100 points.  This way if u suicide bomb something maybe u take out a hanger but u lose 20 points.  or if u shoot down 5 planes and get a hole in ur tank not heading back to base makes all ur kills worthless.  I think this kinda of system would add to the realism by making dying mean something while keeping players with lots of points from having an advantage because there are always ways to earn points back.

I like the idea of getting points only if you return home (ditch/bail in friendly territory / land) and none if you dont (captured/died).

+ Modifier for bringing plane back to field.
