Rudder pedals
« on: September 14, 2001, 02:44:00 PM »
My rudder control is currntly done with a "twisty" stick but I find the control difficult in the heat of battle, and now, left rudder  is faulty due to over use.
Can anyone reccomend some pedals and also advise if some old accel/brake(from steering wheel) pedals can some how be used as rudder, they have and old style 9 pin connector, and theres a socket that it fits in the rear of my PC but I dont know what the socket is for (serial mose possibly?) and if the pedals will even works -pls help me

Tozza,

I use an old set of Thrusmaster rudder pedals. They are fairly rubust, other than the pot but you can change that easily. They are the standard game port style and work nicely with my CH Flightstick PRO. The tmaster pedals WILL NOT work with a tmaster stick without an additional card in the machine.

PS pedals are WAY better than twistysticks!

It's not ALL ThrustMaster sticks.  There are certain sticks from ThrustMaster that won't work with ANY rudder pedals, namely because they either use the X2 axis for a control that's on the stick or more likely because they use the game port simply as in input port on the computer to send digital information through.

I use the pedals from a steering wheel set up for my rudder.  Go into joystick setup and map the rudder to the steering wheel y axis then away you go.
