Shot by auto ack
« on: December 17, 2008, 04:01:30 PM »
I was shot by my own auto ack during take off.  The ack was shooting at an enemy plane, and I got hit.  I have the film if you wish to see it.  Or it might not be a big, that is if you can get shot by your own auto ack.

I have had it happen many times and while it sucks theres not much you can do about it.

Other than simply not being there......

I got killed by friendly ack while chasing a con in a dive to one of our CVs one night.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

If friendly aircraft can't shoot each other, why can friendly AAA shoot aircraft?  It's not consistent.

Getting shot down by a computer algorithm sucks and detracts from the value of $15/month.

It is consistent. You can't get shot down by player controlled friendly ack, same as you can't get shot down by friendly planes or GVs. And that had only been implemented in the first place to prevent griefing on a major scale in the MA.

Friendly ack doesn't aim for you but if you get in the way... just like the real thing.

What Lusche said is true.  The auto ack just shoots at a point and anything in that proximity is likely to get nailed.  It doesn't happen too often as it's pretty random but if you are in the wrong place at the right time... well you know what happens to friend or foe.  Now manned CV 5" anti-aircraft shells are proximity rounds and discharge within a certain proximity range and will discharge at a friendly aircraft but will NOT cause damage to a friendly aircraft or PT or LVT.

All the Best...
