It's not a *huge* additional graphics load, but there would be some.

Actually, that rear-view mirror would be very nice when look ahead at the person your gunning.  The movement in the mirror would catch your attention, at what point you'd look behind you and act accordingly.  Even if they did vibrate, it's not like they are there so you can read their call-signs, just so you know something is behind you, and it might have guns.

I'm neutral on this one, if it's added, cool, if not, not too worried.

For the vibrations... I do this...

Take a med. range rifle... set up a target, and get to range... aim down your sight, then have someone throw something at the barrel of the gun right as you shot... the mirrors would be superflous in AHII, cause lag, take up space, and lead to complaints of "I couldn't see the plane coming from my 12 o clock High cause the damn mirror was in the way!!"
Sometimes, we just need to remember what the rules of life really are: You only
need two tools: WD-40 and Duct Tape. If it doesn't move and should, use the
WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape.

? I don't follow your analogy, I'm not aiming with my mirror, just watching for movement.

Sure, that's one argument, but there are two sides.  Just have the ability to turn 'em off if needed, not as big of a deal as everyone is making about it if you ask me.  I prolly wouldn't use 'em, and adding them isn't very high on my list, but why not add it to the "someday" list.  No harm there.

When I had a marginal system, mirrors on vs. mirrors off in other sims would result in huge frame rate drops without changing any other settings. You'd have include a switch to turn them off if you brought them to AHII.

For AHII, I'd much rather have the space in my upper-forward that the mirror would take up clear for vision.

"Crikey, sir. I'm looking forward to today. Up diddly up, down diddly down, whoops, poop, twiddly dee - decent scrap with the fiendish Red Baron - bit of a jolly old crash landing behind enemy lines - capture, torture, escape, and then back home in time for tea and medals."

I was not looking for a alternative for SA, Im constantly checking ALL views. Just while fluing the HEllcat it seems that it has terrible rear views. I normally fly the F4U1A which has a decent rear view. The Hellcat basically has zero rearview no matter how you adjust it. The F6F is a great plane with the exception of checking your own 6. But Ill still fly it.
