Yeah I liked everything about the movie too except the acting of the young Hmong kid, it was his first movie and you could really tell it, especially the scene were Clint locks him in the basement and he's yelling at Clint to take him with.

Yeah I agree, that little kids acting could have been better.  Overall I liked the movie and was Classic Clint  :aok

On a side note, besides the laughter from the one liners in the theater, did anyone notice the age group that made up the audience in your theater?
Usually at our theater many young folks are in there watching new releases, but not this one, there were only a couple young adults 18-25, It would be safe to say that maybe 98% of the people I saw were over 30 in the theater with me, I am 40 and I felt as though I was the Young One in there.  :lol

LOL same here, I'm 50 and felt like a youngster in the audiance.
I think a lot of older folks want that kick a** feeling one more time.

I really enjoyed the movie.

my theater was all ages, actualy mostly younger, me and all my friends who are in our 20's went and saw it, I'm definatly from the post prime eastwood period, but when i was younger my dad made me watch all those movies.

I'm aware the name eastwood should be a draw for older people and not younger but words getting around that it's just an amazing movie that can be enjoyed by everyone. I know i sure did

side note: who else really enjoyed all the little old asian women bringing him gifts  :rofl

it was a great movie, but come on, we are talking Clint friggin Eastwood, the King of one liners,

"you gonna pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?"
or
"Dying ain't much of a living boy"

I was surprised at the ending, and that is good, when in today's day most movies suk.

Clint's one liners definitely made this movie, I mean there were just so many of them, I loved what he said to those African American guys that were messing around with that Asian girl, "Ever notice how you come across somebody once in a while you shouldn't have messed with? That's me. " :rofl

Or when those Asian guys were messing with Thao on his front lawn and Clint comes out with the gun, "We used to stack ***** like you five feet high in Korea and use you for sandbags." :rofl

Also if you haven't heard yet, it was the #1 movie this weekend.

Definitely worth the time to watch, especially if your a fan of Clint Eastwood, he's just great in it, classic Clint.

It was "classic Clint" with an Archie Bunker twist ... loved the movie.

Wife and I got a cousin to watch our son and I wanted to see this.   Not only because of Clint, but it was filmed here in Detroit.

This is by far the best movie I have seen in the theater, since SPR.   I'll be getting it when it comes out on DVD.

Edit:

Best quote of the movie by far?

"Jesus, Joseph and Mary. These Hmong broads are like badgers."   :devil

I mostly liked it, the kid can't act to save his life, and the racial stuff was a bit over the top.

I remember in 1972 when the Gran Torino came out, I thought it was the best looking car out that year.  Still do like it.  Would love to have one like the one in the movie.

Clint's performance was a Clint performance.

Otherwise the movie sucked.

The second doesn't follow the first. Clint Eastwood, when he's on, could read the phonebook and it would be compelling cinema.

The problem with cars of that era is the workmanship is awful. many stickers were applied wrong , metallic paint often puddled in corners, panel fit was bad and on and on. The best thing about 70's cars were their engines.

lol 70s engines were choked to death by emissions controls. You want engines go to the 60,s. In 1969 is when they started adding a lot of safety restrictions so weights went up.
