able to be changed? what names do they use?
what size, time lenght, and properties do the need?

any chance of getting positional sound into AH? or atleast front back left n right.
Be nice if u have say the left engine on
a p38 running only, that it would only
come out left speaker.

any chance of getting fly by sounds? like
if ur on the ground a play comes by u, id like sound going by. nothing like a merlin p51 zoomin by

I've found out the following info by playing around with my own sounds:

1) Start and shutdown are 8.12 seconds in length. Make your sounds exactly that length to match the game. I also found out that by fading the last 0.6 seconds out, it creates a better meld between start-up and run sounds.

2) Run sounds are simply a single sound on a loop. Be careful when making one because if the loop isn't perfect you'll get a pop from the sound. I use Goldwave, from www.Goldwave.com  to add effects, and reduce popping.

3) Stereo sounds are done best when a phase shift is added. Goldwave can't do this, and I use WaveStudio that came with my SB-16 card. An example of what a combo of both programs can do can be found here:
Typhoon engine sounds
I used a standard run sound from another site, added a phase shift of 3ms, and ran it through a bass filter. The start-up sound I made from 3 other sounds, using only Goldwave.

Good questions and good points. Would love it if Pyro could drop in to talk about it for a moment!
