Interesting line of thought. Suppose:
The CV could be sunk with an overwhelming amount of ordnance - say 20k - but could be progressivly disabled with less in the following ways:
1. fuel available for planes diminished by 25% for each destroyer killed.
2. Ordnance available for planes reduced to nil once CV hit by 15k of bombs (and/or equivalent shellfire)
3. Speed of CV group halved once hit by 15k+
4. To cause a CV to respawn, both CV and BB need to be sunk, *or* the CV group is returned to a friendly port. If so returned, the CV then respawns at that port. The advantage of this would be to add to the difficulty of recapturing a "lost" CV, and to give the nation that "captured" an NME CV some independance from having to own the CV's "home port". Perhaps, the CV's should be able to have some "re-arm" type spots (only larger!)where damaged/incomplete CV groups can be repaired? Obviously the CV group would be unusable for the ? 15 min ? duration it was "in for repair".

As it stands, CV groups are too vulnerable to their position being given away and bombed, making them in effect only capable of one contested field capture. This would help

perhaps the cv could be given code to list and smoke after hit until all ships in tg are destroyed. after which the cv would sink. if all ships not destroyed after 15 min the cv would "fix" itself and allow flight operations again.
