3D cockpit option
« on: November 15, 2001, 02:58:00 AM »
I've seen a few threads about 3D cockpits in this BB. There are many ppl who are afraid that this would decrease their frame rate. If HT will implement it, why not offer 3D cockpits as an selectable option in the video setup like screen resolution or color depth? This would solve the problems with slower computers.

What's your definition of 3D cockpit?  You can already use F8 to pan around the cockpit which I always use.  You can also use the Arrow keys to move side ways and forward and backwards, and the page up/page down to sit up higher/lower.  By doing all this you realise that the gunsight is 3D and away from the flight panel.

Errr, we have 3D cockpits.

I don't understand the question?

Maybe you're asking for a 2D cockpit option?

:D Hehe u are totally right i have to explain it (bad english im german).
I dont mean the view system - its REALLY GREAT!
I mean the graphic of the cockpits. Those we have are flat and could be more sophisticaded / detailed. Especially the window-braces (right word???) look a little bit simple.
OK?

As already said cockpits are 3D - they might be ugly (on the elder birds) and generic - but full 3D!

Really would love to see a revamp of the older cockpits. Metric gauges mayhaps? Historic ammo counter... ok,ok - I'll stop. This been ask for before and denied before  :(

Just a try!

How ugly are those lb/sq inch instead of ATA and ft/min instead of mt?  :D

I really think guages should be in the original language.

I must say I wonder about a culture that squeakes endlessly about something as subjective and prone to misinterpretation as "lethality", while the objective and unavoidable mislabeling of the intruments hit you in the face every time you run AH.

Unless it's not realism, but merely "I can't keeel" whines we see here...

Here Here Duedel !!!

I too would love to see the cockpits polished up a bit... Quite a bit...
The cockpits we have now are in my estimation 3D, consisting of 2D sketches...

Bring on Rounded Bracing, shadowed rivets...
And a bottle of Jack Daniels hidden in every cockpit... Not just the F4u-1 and D
<G>

I would love the eye candy...
