That's actually a pretty nice skin idea! I'd use it while flying pony Bs!

I take it you've been to Bud Anderson's website?

Bill Overstreet talking about the markings on his P51C "Berlin Express"

A fairly decent diecast P51C of "Berlin Express"  autographed by Overstreet

While this is from his earlier B model, I do believe the markings on the right side of Berlin Express were similar.

That's what I was looking for Dan.  :aok

N7 said that there was a "dragon riding a P51" and we could only find very small pictures of it. With that picture I have enough detail to try and remake it.

Edit: One other question. What does the decal under the bombs say exactly?

It still needs a lot of work but here is what I have done on the left side. Main thing that needs reworking are the panel lines, rivets, and screws. I need to make two sets of each. One for where the aluminum is showing and one for all the parts that are painted. So they look right on each surface.

For what it's worth, by the time it got the Malcom hood, the D-Day stripes would have only been lower half of the fuselage and wings.  And I note that you have full stripes on the fuselage and no invasion stripes on the top of the wing.  If its all the way round the fuselage it's all the way round the wing too :)

I had them all the way around the top of the wing until I saw the photo you posted. So what you are saying it should look like eather one of these, or should the top of the wings and h-stab be clean in the bottom one?

I like the bottom one more.  It's correct for the time Berlin Express had the Malcom hood.  Full D-Day stripes weren't worn for very long.  The half stripes cover a greater time period too so I'd go with that if you are wanting my opinion.

Yeah...Dan already stated what I was gonna say.  the bottom one looks killer and way better than the top one IMO.

Okay bottom one it is. That version would have had the horse riding the pony right?

On the right side.  I think that was common to any of Overstreet's 51s

How does this look? Overstreet said that the horse was brown so I took the picture you posed cut the horse out, remade the P51 and circles by hand, then pasted the horse back. I then took a shade of light brown and painted over the horse with a light brush and set the opacity to 65% so the shading from the original photo shows up, but there is still enough brown that it doesn't look like a grayscale picture.

I like that noseart almost as much as McKennons P-51B "Yippee Joe" of the 334FS/4FG.
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.
