So then, hitechcreations message board posters would probably rather hear Hans Zimmer or Iron Maiden on the soundtrack.
I wonder if those who were so turned-off by my effort can post an aces high video that I may enjoy more than my own - apart from those JapanischSchwert and flash4art videos - I'll be surprised!
 :P

Hardcore punk and World War 2 really don't go together like peas in a pod.  Perhaps if your video was Gears of War or some bloody first person shooter, it would be more fitting.  I like a whole range of music, but I know certain kinds don't go together with fighter planes.

You asked for our opinion, and we gave it to you.  You may not like it, but thats the chance you take.  If you think its the greatest thing in the world, thats great.  Why should you care what other people thing then?

I don't think he means the quality of the video as far as pixels and compression are concerned, but rather your camera angles and editing.

To be quite honest, when the... uh... music started, I thought you had switched out your engine sound with someone flipping out at a drum set, which I found pretty funny... and then I was just kind of pushed in to boredom and disgust.
Now that I think about it, it reminded me of Timmy from South Park.
:lol I'm going to be going "TIMMIEGH!" at the screen next time I fly now! Cheers!  :aok

Thanks to everyone for commenting and opinion though really, and I apologise for my bad personal taste in films and music and stuff, and in future films I'll endevour to make a clearer narrative with a more listenable soundtrack...
...here are some other Aces High videos I've made recently (since I've gotten fraps).
Music is 'NSK' by Laibach...

I'm not necessarily saying you HAVE to have a narrative/plot, but there has to be something that ties it together.

Oh, and if it's going past 5 minutes with OUT something that ties it together, it's far too long. Usually only the narrative- or plot-driven videos even have a chance of running that long.

what i dont understand is why your getting bentoutta shape when you asked for peoples opinions. The music was a bad  choice imho, and  i love punk, have since 1980 but that was not punk more like industral music. And 10mins long! omg way to long, in my years of making AH vids ive learned to try and keep them under 3mins. i got bored watchin it and had to stop because of the repetitive music was giving me a headache and thats hard to do.
and i accept your challage of post a vid!

And that is real punk music ;P

Dude, I'm not bent out of shape (it's a message board - it's kind of expected to be 'b*tchy'!), and I still liked my video(s) a little more than your one (I actually like the music I used a lot!), but that Last Caress video rocked! Hmm not sure if I prefer that version to the original and Metallica versions, maybe perhaps, NOFX are good...
...I need to learn to put the camera in better postions, so far I've been doing all my fraps capturing in full screen to get the highest screen ratio, I will with my next vid experiment with the movie player to try and get some more cinematic angles - I like the shots with the camera stationary, as if filmed from a balloon - and I saw a shot in someone elses film of a bomb bay opening up from inside that was very cool and I must rip-off sometime.
Any comments on my 'Wingwalker' and 'NSK' videos? They seem to be less despised than the 'Deathface' job. Well anyway, next video will be more 'traditional' I hope - the thing is I really don't make these (new w/s fraps) videos for existing Aces High II players, rather for people who believe that Counter Strike or Warcraft or whatever are the be all and end all of spectacular online multifighting.
And really, a lot of videos of Aces High I see on youtube bore me as much as I'm sure mine bore others. The music for my next video will probably be Puccini or Verdi!  ;)
Cheers!

your vid wasnt all bad there were alot of good things in it that the music distracted from. Remember one thing every vid you make you will learn more and they will only get better. Ok now for some tips of the trade: 1st when capturing with fraps, capture at a 1/4 speed then readjust the speed with your editor (even WMM has this feature) you will see a huge differance in your film quality. i have never captured film in full screen not sure if it makes a diff... I know its not always easy but try to keep your films under 3mins(i have found most people dont like to sit threw anything longer). Im like you i prefer to use music that i like cuz chances are im gonna be the one watchin the film the most lol(and yeah i was wrong i have films that have been watched over 1000 times by others) but sometimes you gotta ask yourself are you making the vid for yourself or for others to watch.....if its for others then yeah your gonna wanna use music that others will like. Remember to listen to what others say they dont like about a film, that way you can make your next film more enjoyable for others and you will have alot more people watching it and waiting for the next one. If you look at my 1st vids compaired to my last ones you can see how far i came(and i taught myself to make vids all by myself, vegas 7 was awesome i wish i still had it). Play with the AH film viewer shots set up, there was a really good write up on how to use the basics....take your time making your clips, ive spent hours playing with the AH film viewer to get 1, 10 second shot. Oh and youtube, ick gag choke puke!.......try using vimeo or anything better then youtube, their HD looks like poo.

I hope some of this is a lil helpful and if you have any questions please feel free to PM me, im not the best film maker but ill sure try to help anyone that wants help

just watched wingwalker and i liked that film

Given the work that others have done here in this forum, your video looks like you just slammed it together in a few minutes.  No Offense.

Not to mention you just jump in.  The viewer gets slammed into this unorganized chaos.  If that is what you wanted you succeeded.  Punk can be a great music source for action.  But that music made me want to track them down and yank their amp cords.  Yikes!

Keep trying though.

IN MY OPINION WHICH AINT MUCH!!!  LOL Example of a good type of music would be say DOA and their remix of WAR or EVE OF DESTRUCTION.   For something like this.

Ya know?

I just took Rhapsody, turned down your music on YouTube and played other tracks to your shots.  That music you have has got to go bro.  Sorry.

Your camera work is not bad but needs to be polished.  For instance the 262 gunsight.  Either have the whole gunsight or none of it is what I would do.  It makes it look like a mistake.  That is the difference.  Get rid of the icons!  That makes it look WAY cheap.  The low res does not help either.  This is what some of the guys here are trying to tell ya I think.   :salute

What movie maker are you using?  Windows MM?  Just curious.

You do have some great shots there with the 262  Very cool.  Keep working on quality control!  Look at all the posts here on how to slow down your recordings then play them faster later.  That will make your videos a whole lot more smooth.
