moot if you go to the geforce web page there is a community section inside of that there is a subsection called SLI. they talk about all the things people have done with their cards. that may be the best place to find your answer. you need to create a user account, but its easy and free to join the forums there.

good luck

So it's doable?  Or is this one just an exception to the rule? Its GF 280/260 specs differences are similar to mine.

From the Nvidia SLI Zone:

1) Ensure that the second graphics card you plan to install:

Has the NVIDIA® SLI™-Ready badge on the box
Has the same graphics processing unit (GPU) as the SLI-Ready card already installed in your PC. (Note: The graphics card manufacturer may be different, as may the GPU clock and memory speeds, but the GPUs MUST match. For example, if you have a GeForce 7600 GS-based graphics card, your second card, regardless of manufacturer, must have a GeForce 7600 GS GPU in order to take advantage of SLI technology.
I edit a lot of my posts.  Get used to it.

It works.. crashes the brand new windows install, though. Full stop 30sec screen freeze (except for the mouse cursor) with a quick blue screen STOP error before it reboots. The other windows install that I haven't erased yet works, though. I'm thinking the one leading suspect is that the old windows install doesn't have the full nvidia control panel.
Just played COD4 on full everything, ran smooth half the time. Looks awesome.  Shame I'm gonna return one of the cards.
