First off, I am not an Intel enthusiast. I use what works best for me at the time I build a new computer.
The Phenom II should have been the Phenom. If it were, AMD would be in a little better position today. It is a better CPU than the Phenom.
It is an ok solution. If you are not an overclocker, it should be a good choice. If you are an overclocker, the Core 2 will blow it away if you are so disposed.
Clock for clock it is still slower than Intel.
So it depends on your priority. If performance is higher on your list, than cost, Intel. If cost is higher on your list than performance, AMD or Intel will do.
Personally, it still does not do what I would need better than Intel. Intel just kicks AMD all over the floor in the video editing circles.
