Aircraft Brakes
« on: November 29, 2001, 11:36:00 AM »
I am disturbed by the wheel brakes on nearly all Aces High aircraft.  Of the many aircraft types I have flown in my life, not one of them was incapable of remaining stopped during a full power runup when holding the brakes.  This includes powerful jets.

Aces High airplanes invariably creep or roll during power runups with the brakes fully applied.  This is not realistic and should be fixed asap.  Many pilots, to whom I've demonstrated the game, have commented on this abnormality.

HiTech, please fix the brakes.   :)  Thanks.

i have a question. do the brakes get progressivley stronger the longer you hold down the space bar? (or whatever the key is)

i dont know that they do. obviously vega and citabria have rudder pedals with variable brake input. i think that maybe the brakes are weak so those players who use the keyboard dont lock up the brakes and nose over.

They are on or off w/ the spacebar, I believe.

I got around this by mapping the brakes to one of the rotary 'trim' knobs on my Saitek X35 throttle... it is very helpful... which leads to another comment, in that it would be great to be able to map the knobs on the stick to trim!

I agree with Cit.

HTC should program a progressive bar which  allows a certain percentage of braking power from the brakes to those people who do not have Rudder Pedals or do not want the full effective range of the brakes.

Likewhise, those people who can control thier aircraft braking power enough to not make it tip over would be very welcome to AH and must be taken into consideration for a future update.

I have CH PRO pedals USB. How can I program those to use them as rudder and brakes?
