I named the "sounds" folder folder1 and created a folder2 i placed download into folder 1 and moved folder 1 content into 2. From what ive read this should make it work. But i keep gettin some thing that says "cleaned-Token file for removing old files" ???????????
Soundpacks are made to replace the existing sounds in the game with new "custom" ones. Let's say you're playing AH and fire a gun(s), you expect to hear a gun noise when you hit the right button. To you, you click and then you hear a noise. To the game, you click and then the game plays the appropriate sound file from the folder the game is specifically told to find the appropriate sounds file in.
Think about a really old-fashioned radio show. You're the star/host telling the story to the audience (aka: the computer game player), and there is a propman who makes the appropriate sound effects in reaction to what you say/do (the computer). Let's say our propman is a little too much like our computer. The radio host calls for "a gun shot". Our propman has been programmed to reach into a specific box called "sounds" and pull out the item called a "gun" and then makes a noise with it.
Now lets say the audience gets tired of the same gun noise whenever it's used, so the next day the boss goes to the propman's box labeled "sounds" and takes out the old item named "gun" and puts in a new item with a different sound, but the same "gun" label. And the show starts and the host gets around to calling for "a gun shot". Our propman reaches into his specific box called "sounds" and pulls out the new item with the same old label and makes a noise with it.
Fast forward to the next time the audience gets tired of the same gun noise. This time the boss is sick and isn't paying attention. He takes out the old "gun" item but instead of replacing it with a new item labeled "gun", he labels it "pistol". The show starts and our host gets around to needing another "gun shot". Our propman (with the intelligence of a programmed computer function) reaches into his trusty "sounds" box... but can't find the "gun", so he does nothing. He's not smart enough (or been programmed) to know that the "pistol" is in fact the "gun" and that it was the intended labeled item to be used. He's also not smart enough (or been programmed) to know what to do when one day he walks into the studio and is confronted with two new boxes (lets say they're labeled "folder1" and "folder2"). He doesn't know to inspect their contents for the props and to then use those props. He just knows to use specifically labeled props that are contained in the specifically labeled "sounds" box.
He's also not smart enough to know what to do if the "sounds" box isn't located precisely where it belongs on the table, he looks for that specific box in it's specific spot when he needs to use it.
As for why the whole renaming thing... Well the boss ain't stupid and the boss doesn't want to waste time/money. We're essentially taking the old/original "sounds" box/folder and instead of throwing it out we're renaming it "folder1" (I personally rename it something like "original sounds"). We then have our new "sounds" box/folder that we properly label and properly locate for the propman to use. We don't have to worry about the "folder1" box, the propman hasn't been programmed to do anything with it, so it will just sit there. It's in the corner in case we need to pull it out and use it again, all that needs to be done for that is to label it "sounds" again.
