Is it possible HT to make a change so that we can toggle the floating gunsite on or off?  I absolutely hate floating gunsites.

It is a simulation item.  It is much closer to reality than the way they were before.

Karnak, are you high? have you ever seen a real gunsight that is projeced on a reflector glass?

If you are not at 90 degrees to the reflection point, you don't see the thing very well, if at all. It was more realistic the way it was.

This new way is to allow pilots to move their head position to where they deem comfortable, yet still have the gunsight centered to their vision. THis more or less compensates for the lack of adjustable sight-glass and allows pilots to not have to make custom reticle sights for varying head positions.

As one who flies and shoots from the "home" position, I don't need this feature. I preferr it the way it was, but either way I don't care.

On the other hand...

HTC please look at the sights in the B-17 and the LANC. They are mirror image reversed from left to right, including the head movement being opposite.

True, the reflector gunsight fades as you go off of center, but because of the optics, the image of the gunsight cross appears to be infinately far away.  It is focused for infinity, so that as you move your head, the sight moves an equal distance.  This keeps the crosshairs pointed at the same place on a plane infinitely far away from the shooter, so paralax is not a problem in aiming.  The new one better represents the purpose of a reflector gunsight.  The old one better represents the fade.  If HTC just incorporates fade into the new sight, it will be perfect.  I still say this was a step in the right direction.

Of course, I only see what he posts here and what he does in the MA.  I know virtually nothing about the man.  I think its important for people to realize that we don't really know squat about each other.... definately not enough to use words like "hate".

Well... didnt your sight always stay strieght, thus your head never moved. You'd sit in the seat and that big piece of velcro would secure it to the same postion during a high g turn...

I'm right your wrong...nananananana psssffffffffffffffffffffffttt tt

P.S. Why do I get the feeling he was being sarcastic and I'm just to slow to catch it this morning? Time for some coffee.
