Can't see the forest for the trees
« on: November 30, 2001, 03:36:00 PM »
Other than objects to run into while in low dogfights, what purpose do the trees in AH serve?  You cant hide behind them while in GV's.  Why have them so sparsely spaced?

Why not take the same number of trees present in the arenas and clump them together to make forests, groves or orchards?  Leave some areas clear to form prairies and meadows.

Anyway, its a small gripe.

I agree, they serve no purpose except to be an annoyance to GVs and planes trying to ditch. Last night I had my radiator hit and was trying to find somewhere to ditch...there wasn't one stretch of ground around with a clearing big enough to ditch. If they weren't armed with armor-piercing bark they might be a bit less annoying.

They also limit the movement of the GV's as well. Seems one of these trees OR sheep are equal to a direct hit with a battery of 88's.

And get rid of the sheep, they are a frame rate killer.

I'm totally agreed, Furious.

And as RA said, HTC should disable sheep on  the terrain.
it kills frame rate much.  :(

HTC, I know you guys love a sheep.
I think it's an Aces High's monument...

So, how about placing sheep paradise to somewhere, instead of disabling sheeps of the terrain? (example: sheep island)

Thanks,
Mitsu

I vote for losing the sheep too. I can see a frame rate hit when they're around.

If trees were clumped into forests, they would also make a good place for a ditched pilot to hide out and wait to be picked up... if rescue aircraft/vehicles were ever implemented.  :)

Yeah clumped trees (forests) with many roads.
Great idea!

Sound like very reasonable suggestions to me.

I'd appreciate any changes that raised frame rates.
