This week - classic match-ups
« on: February 06, 2009, 08:00:11 AM »
We'll run this setup while we're working on Fudgums' proposal.  Note that there will be three separate plane sets, changing on Monday and Wednesday mornings.  Depending on available time the maps may change with the plane sets.

Plane set has switched to Spit v 109.  Because the Ardennes map is so nice I enabled M-8s on both sides so the ground people can play, too.

Today and tomorrow are the last phase of this setup.  We close out with what should be the second most famous combination of opposing aircraft in the ETO.  See below for the final update to the MOTD.

Wednesday and Thursday:

Map:  Rhinewin

ALLIES (Rooks)
P-47D11 and D25
Sherman Firefly

AXIS (Knights)
FW-190A5
Tiger I

This is one of the few maps with air starts, so
that more accurate P-47 v. FW 190 combat can
be duplicated in a shorter time.  The air start
bases are those with the blue squares near them
(the Allied base at A72 and the Axis base at
A73 are the closest together).  Take off in the
direction of the blue square; you will start at
about 18k, gear down and engine off.  Take care
of both promptly!

This is also a good map for GV fights, so each
side has one.

That was the one that brought in the most people.  The first two matchups were virtually ignored.  We'll try this again, but probably not soon.
