Nice Setup. That would be really cool to have, I bet!
Thanks guys. Trust me, it really only adds to the immersion effect, at least for me. Can't say it's done much to improve my flying (maybe even made it worse... SA overload sometimes). But I really love it. Just flying around with all that view around me is visually stunning sometimes, especially with 2.14 now. It took a while to acquire the extra screens, then put it all together with freeware for the head-tracking and the triple-head software. Actually I did most of it on a tight budget over time,
Dell XPS 730, (2.8 ghz RAM)
24" Dell main monitor
2X 22" side monitors (Getting about 5408x1200 resolution right now)
Cougar HOTAS (stick's on a homemade platform) + CH Pro Pedals (the pedals are from 1995, used them since my AW days,
).
Head tracking via a modified MS Lifecam Vx 6000 webcam + FreeTrack + a TrackIR LED pro-clip
Triple-head rendering via SoftTH 1.08, passed through an ATI 4890 (primary) and a GE 7900 GTX card (secondary)
If you're planning to do this, be mindful of the power requirements and what your house's electrical circuits can take. Don't overload your circuit breakers. Also, 3 screens, plus room lights and other gear, builds up heat, so consider your ventilation options for the area you'll have your rig in.
FWIW,
