AH2 Stops Responding
« on: January 28, 2009, 01:38:01 PM »
This happens about 1 in 10 times i log in........everything runs smooth until i choose an arena and just before the bases appear on the clipboard the game locks up and the only thing i can do is bring up the task manager and shut the game down that way, and sometimes the task manager wont even come up and i have to kill the computer............not a big issue, just a pain in the bellybutton but none the less one i would like to fix

Let me know if you have any luck with this.  Besides some seemingly random disco's, this problem is my only complaint.

I'm assuming its a graphics issue as that is what is loading when we lockup.

Need some information on your computer and your game settings. For information on your computer the first 1/3 of your DxDiag will do (Start>Run. Type in dxdiag. Press OK. After the loading bar located on the bottom left finishes, press, "Save all Information..." Save the file to a location easy to locate, such as your desktop. Then open that file and copy the first 1/3 of the information pasting it in a response here). For game information I need you to go to your game's video settings. What texture size are you using? What resolution? Are you preloading textures? Close that once you got the information. Now get us some information on in-game graphical detail. Are the sliders at default, above default, or below default? How about game sounds? Are you using default sounds or an add-on sound pack?

Go to task manager and see how many processes you have running. XP should be around 20-25. CTRL/ALT/DEL will bring task manager up. Also do you have the duo core optimizer?

I seem to remember Skuzzy saying something about long load times ( working of a beer infested old brain here). I think it had something to do with loading things into memory but it taking an over long time and it would dump the connection or lock up the computer. Try not preloading anything skins or textures and try it for a while see if it clears up.

....now where did I leave that beer?
