Last night I put 40 rounds of panzer HE into a VH at a port before it was destroyed. I am quite sure that all but 2 shots were solid hits. This is compared to 10-15 rounds it used to take at a VB. Is this increased VH strength intentional, or an oversight?

It was intentionally strengthened along with other hangars as well...see News and Info on one of Pyro's post addressing the issue of gunfirem HE rounds, etc.

It should not take 40 rounds of 75mm HE to destroy a hangar of any type.

From 1.05 news:
"Increased bomb, rocket, and heavy cannon lethality. Building hardnesses were also
increased proportionally. This was done because the damage of small weapons was
out of proportion to that of large ones."
I thought that panzer HE rounds would be included in the "heavy cannon" category. If it is now taking 40 HE rounds then this is apparently not the case. I agree that this an undesired change. Who the heck wants to sit and lob 40 rounds into a hangar? Isn't 80 rounds that max that can be loaded?

Everything (hardness and also lethality) was supposed to be toned up a bit except the Osti, resulting in the Osti's effectiveness agains hard targets going down a bit. Maybe HE shells were missed and are hitting at old values? Maybe this should go on the bug page?

When tanks came out, it used to take 20 rounds of HE to destroy VH, then they lowered hardness on all structures, VH required 10-15 (don't remember which, 10 or 15), now its 40 per latest post above(thks Mickey)

You definitely will be needing about 40 hits to down a VH hangar at an airfield. Being doing that at A22 last Tuesday.
I do not think this belongs to the bugs page but to the features one.
Does it make sense needing 40x75mm. hits to blow a Hangar? Honest question, as I am no ammo-wise.
Cheers,

Damage to structures is related to game play here and not reality. Most (non armored) hangers are mere tin boxes. Even .303's would sail through them and not notice the impact. A single 250lb bomb would shred them and cannon fire would level them in short order.
A hardened hanger like was shown on the films from Desert Storm would be another factor. Whether they were concrete reinforced or earthen mounded it would take considerable firepower to demolish them. The graphics on AH are simple and suggest plain tin boxes (huts).
It would be unrealistic to think a single M-3 could take a field and destroy all the buildings however.
