This needs to be addressed: Enemy bombers landing on ack-less fields, positioning so that they kill enemy re-spawning planes with their otto positions.  Easy fix, disable bomber guns while OTR.

I think the turrets are already disabled while OTR.  Maybe you saw a B-26 parked in front of the re-spawn point using his 4 .50s, which still fire OTR.

Roger that, it must have been his .50's in th e nose, these too should be disabled.  Some may say "Why not send over some fighters from another field and kill him?"..yeah, while this guy is on the ground, he has 10 cons above him protecting airspace..hehe.

Ra is right, it is the 4x.50's. Result is the same.   Don't like that one at all.

And when the P38 comes I bet this will be used for this too, it's nose is lower and it got more guns, making it much better exploiting this. Taking away this fighters ability to shoot when on the ground is not gonna happen I figure. I think I have seen this being performed by a fighter with regular landing gear too, this is more difficult tho I can imagine.
How about allowing different starting points, maybe just for the large fields (3 start positions) so at least these can't be kept down by this sort of action, unless there are 3 planes parked on the field that is.
The problem is that this landing trick is most often seen when the enemy has suprised one of you bases with no fighters, and the c47 is already halfway there. You NEED to take of from the base to catch the c47 in time and what normally would take at least a handfull of vultures and some c47 drivers to acomplish, is now done by down to 2 or 3 players.

Maybe this will no longer be an issue if you can jump in a half-track or a tank (at a different spawn point hopefully) and go after the sitting vulcher at the base.

Fine by me. But make it across the board.

So if you take away the bomber guns, you take away the fighters guns on the ground as well.

Ooopsss No more Spitfire rolling across the tarmac strafing the troops.

I think the solution to this problem is being able to select which end of the runway you want to start at, even at a one-runway base. This will also help you by being able to takeoff in the proper direction without having to make 180 turns while you're still low and slow.  I never tried this, but you could try having someone take out a B17 and the fighter will start "inside" it, letting the B17 take all the damage while the fighter taxis out of it's "shell."  The fighter can then become airborne while the B26 scrambles to get itself in the air    I recall saving a field by just being persistant.  The B26 extinguishes it's nose ammo relatively quickly, so taking up B17 after B17 usually does the trick.
I do not think that disabling guns on the ground is the solution.  You always want the option of being able to kill that sloppy vultcher who happens to cross your sights.  A fighter could very easily do what the B26 is capable of, although it will have to get much closer to the enemy.

Here's a pic of me and a teammate keeping a field supressed....the lone time I ever used the B26 this way.  I was practicing low level bombing without the sight before landing, hence the craters.  Nobody ever bothered to defend this field so our services weren't neccessary
