If I remeber right I was maybe 15 so that had to be the summer of 68, I saw Ted at the Elmhurst IL YMCA, they did Journey to the center of your mind among other songs.  I thought ah another one hit wonder  hehe.  How wrong can a person be, Ted has staying power.

I'm no expert, but I recall reading soemwhere that he didnt shower and continually soiled himself for a month so he could be declared insane and not go to vietnam.... something like that  :rofl
Nugent dodged the draft during the Vietnam War. In an interview for the Detroit Free Press (July 15, 1990), Nugent described how he avoided the draft: He claims that 30 days before his Draft Board Physical, he stopped all forms of personal hygiene. The last ten days he ingested nothing but junk food and Pepsi, and a week before his physical he stopped using the bathroom altogether, virtually living inside pants caked with excrement and stained by his urine. That spectacle won Nugent a deferment, he says. His quote: “ but if I would have gone over there, I'd have been killed, or I'd have killed, or I'd have killed all the Hippies in the foxholes… I would have killed everybody

just what I thought, hes a total hypocrate, he'll support sending my generation over to iraq, but he skipped out on the contraversial war of his generation.

shooting defenseless animals is just fine by him, but when the prey shoots back he wont do it.

As opposed to what? Just eating defenseless ones someone else killed for you?

Then again if it wasn't for American sportsmen and woman there wouldn't be any Elk, Bear, M-Lion, Turkey, Deer, upland birds, waterfowl, fishing programs, moose, or a lot of other animals still left. Nor the habitat that supports them. Every wild life success story in this countries history was made possible by sportsmen and woman. The defensless deer I hunt Cav has a whole lot better chance to live then that cow you just crapped out did.

The ones who make "defenseless animals" type comments dont extend their love into their wallets. And those cheeseburgers dont come out of cracker jack boxes.

did i call him a coward or a sissy... no, once again i was pointing out his hypocracy, which makes me lose respect for him, trumping the war in iraq when he wasn't willing to go to war himself is hypocritcal

however i will say he went about draft dodging in a very creative way

He supports the troops that chose to fight for their country and are thus in Iraq, he didn't support the government forcing citizens (especially himself) against their will to fight in a civil war in Vietnam.

Ali converted to Islam before he was drafted.  Ali went to his draft induction and refused to take the oath.  Ali was convicted of Draft Evasion, sentenced to 5 years incarceration and went to prison.  Ali was stripped of his titles and his career.

A bit more conviction than "I'm gonna pretend to be crazy so I don't have to serve."

Ted Nugent, rock star and avid bow hunter from Michigan, was being interviewed by a French journalist, an animal rights activist. The discussion came around to deer hunting.
The journalist asked, 'What do you think is the last thought in the head of a deer before you shoot him?  Is it, 'Are you my friend?' or is it 'Are you the one who killed my brother?'

Nugent replied, 'Deer aren't capable of that kind of thinking. All they care about is, what am I going to eat next, who am I going to screw next, and can I run fast enough to get away. They are very much like the French.'

The interview ended.
