Uber Fighters, so why not Uber Bomber?

We have all these mid to late war super fighters now.

So how about an uber bomber?

The A-26B/C comes to mind.

Up to 14 forward firing .50 cal guns, with a pair of 2-gun turrets above and below the rear fuselage.  4000 pound internal bombload, plus bombs or rockets on the wings.  355 mph fully loaded.  Empty it will do about 370, with a better power/weight ratio than some of the heavier fighters.

Considering all the powerful interceptors, and the SDI system errr AAA, it seems appropriate.

What about the Ar234B - Does 373mph carrying 3x500kg bombs, not to mention it's empty speed of 461mph, and "suprise!" 2x20mm cannon...

It would certainly be interesting Funked

Over in AW, a well flown A-26, can actually dogfight some of the heavier fighters (190A8,P47, and such) for a few seconds, after it has droped its load.

And with those 8 nose mounted .50 cals, all you need is a split second burst.

Isn't this B-17 quite a uber bomber already :P

It flies 35,000ft (+10,000ft too high), with fast speed and guns with what youll nail everything before they even scratch you.
At higher there is even greater advantage when fighters cant do anything special and fuel modifier cuts out all but P51 and F4u.
(another nice point which makes P51 shine in AH, fuel modifier)

Fishu:  You're not making much sense.  Adding a high performance attack aircraft is a different issue from fixing the beta flight model of the B-17.
