C.205 mileage stinks
« on: December 28, 1999, 10:20:00 AM »
I doubt this is correct, but here's what I just did:

I took off from F2 in a C.205 just goof around in the clouds near F2. When I got off the ground I watched the fuel level drop a quarter tank and I was no more than 1 mile from F2! By the time I hit 10k the thing was reading ½ tank. I didn't even get close to 13k before the tank read ¼.

I had to glide the 2 miles back to F2.

Is it just me or does this thing burn gas faster than most cars built in 1965?

Sure that wasn't just the AUX tank? I can climb to 25k only using up the AUX.

There is 2.5* fuel modifier, which sure does increase the fuel usage.. and sure does give advantage for P-51, and F4u in some (though, F4u is only allied plane which i think might need some more punch)

I don't fly macchi or la5 because of fuel modifier, already flying Bf109 is begining to feel stupid due to its low combat time.

What goes faster? the altimeter up or the fuel indicator down?
The macchi was for sure no long range fighter, but it was able to fly more than 700km in one bounce...here the tank lasts fore one bounce of the nose :-)
