ACM's
« on: February 16, 2009, 01:03:13 PM »
Love them, I'm not just a landgrabber. Back in my AW days I use to be the furballer from Hades. However, my acms back then where actually quite limited. In AH it has been an uphill struggle from day one. And I have enjoyed it immensely. Even through my tirades, cursing, accusing, and learning. My biggest break through came when I watched a biographical film of Skyrock. In the film he said he admired Widewing because he flew so smoothly. (Hope I have the name right) That got me to thinking. Flying smoothly isn't that e management. I mean yanking the stick causes all kinds of issues and one being loss of e. But don't you have to have quick reflexes and doesn't that save your scalp? Nope, not necessarily anyway. Anticipation seems to play a big role there and that takes experience. I noticed too the use of flaps or more importantly when he used the flaps. It was just a great learning film.
What reminded me of this was Mountainman's reply to a post about flying F4U1As. Just some real great hints there. Most of them I use but it affirmed my tactics.

If you are a student of ACM's in this game and put effort into applying them, you look at a 6-12 month steep learning curve.  The biggest thing i found that having the experiance to apply a particular type of ACM is the most difficult against a seasoned veteran.

Then again, I always feel there is a lot more to learn always and every plane handles differently.  Just keep at it and learn from somebody better and from your mistakes.   :salute

It varies diffrent from person to person. On my case, it was between 8 or 9 months, since I acually started the game, that I got pretty secent in ACMs. Everything now that I learn, is either by duels or somthing I learn about E in the MAs.
