For Those Who Wish To Fight PT2 and the AvA
« on: March 11, 2009, 10:29:44 PM »
The list found in the first thread....
http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,260121.0.html...
has grown to almost 60 names....woot!

Pulled out my list, on account of there were no promising targets, and was
discouraged to find, the way the bases were laid out, it was prohibitive to
asking someone to a 1v1. Logged into blue...same thing, closest fields were
1.5+ sectors apart.
So I stumbled into the AvA and found a jackpot. Many airfields are in close
proximity to each other making an excellent environment for pure fighter ops.

That's the lovely Ardennes08 map that our skilled map making team created.  It's up through Friday, I think.

In general, virtually all of the AvA maps have bases closer together than you'll find in the MAs.  HTC has a minimum base separation standard for MA maps, which doesn't apply to the AvA and special events arenas.  Come check it out.

OK, lets see... climb out is about 250 on auto for most planes, that's 9 minutes to cross 1.5 sectors, 2 guys meet half way, 4.5 minutes. 4 Minutes for climbing making between 4-6k alt, last 30 seconds to build speed. Gives you just over 4 minutes to lift off, get to an average 5k fighting alt, at a good fighting speed, whats wrong with that?  That's way the bases are set like they are in the MA>

Gives you just over 4 minutes
More like 6 min, but I see your point (that I'm crazy because I think 6 minutes is a long time).

As far as this "crazy" individual is concerned, I'd just as soon be mixing it up in 3 mins if possible,
and why not? After all, the combatants will be merging at relatively close E states.

The AvA's maps made an impression on me last night in terms of how useful they were to supplying
"fighter heaven". Which to me, means a short transit to the fight.
Frankly I'd love to see some of the AvA's maps in the MA. I've always hated long transit times to the fight.

So.....
 That's way the bases are set like they are in the MA>
... may be true.
Doesn't mean I have to like it.

Most refreshing as well was the fact the radar was up at all fields (in the AvA).

You'll never see one of the AvA maps in the MA. The base spacing for one is too close   :) You can run into some good fights in the AvA, but I just got tired of the politics. I fly to have fun, and there was always "drama" in there. I think the match ups in EW and MW are good too, but if "most" people can't fly their uber ride that are not going to show. I think that the biggest problem with AvA. The plane set is too limited for todays players.
