Thanks for the help everyone.  Was messing around online and found that the livery I wanted to skin is in fact an OTU livery.  Dang!!!!  Oh well, thanks again and a big <S> to you.

Well it is a while since this topic came up but while I was back in Australia I stayed at an Uncles house who was in the Australian army towards the end of the war & served in New Guinea he had a collection of books issued by the Australian war memorial during the war & they had belonged to my grandfather as well as a book published about Gallipoli & my grandfather was wounded in battle when served their during WWI.

Any way while looking in it I found a picture of a bare metal P40N & since there was no scanner at my uncles I took some pictures from the books so I will stick a few of them on here as well. Also I visited the Australian war memorial & was watching video footage on display of RAAF P40's in combat runs it too showed video of a bare metal P40.

Long story short I would say pretty conclusive evidence that the RAAF used P40'S with bare metal skins & did see combat as you can see with the date from one of the books I took a photo of.
