Its definitely a Tu-2. The Fw-189 was a twin boom layout like the P-38

.

Also, the lower rear of the fuselage (Windows) are definitive elements (Since we can't see the top) to tell the Tu-2 from the Pe-2.

Tu-2
The difference is in the integrated cockpit instead of a framed canopy, biggest 1 look difference is that the Pe-2 has the rear stabs mounted in the middle while the Tu-2 family has the bar across the top of the fueselage end.

Closer clue: Pe-2 has a pair of inline liquid cooled engines Tu-2 has a pair of radial's with shrouds. thus Tu-2 never has any coolers hanging out of the motors

Reminds me of Dornier 217 a bit... just shape the nose bit, horizontal stabilizers and mid hull..

FYI Sorrow, there is a version of the Pe-2 with the raidial engines very similar to that..thats what threw me off initially

. If you have 'Soivet Combat Aircraft of world war II, Vol. 2: Twin engined fighters, Attack, and bomber aircraft,' check out the Pe-2 (pg. 124-125) section. There is a version of the Pe-2 that looks almost exactly like the Tu-2 from the wing forward. Hopefully, we will get one of those two aircraft (Or an IL-2) in the next build

Yes- it was using 2 Ash 82FN motors to try and increase speed. This worked well but the motors were much more needed for the La7 so only enough aircraft for 1 squadron were ever produced. The plane was able to do very high speeds at 5,000 ft or so, I think it was close to 360 mph. Unfortunatly it was not very good up high. What I use to pick the apart is the distinctive tail. Tu-2 looks like a capital T, Pe2 like a lower case t.

Fishu... under that criteria anything looks "a bit" like the dornier 217.

Max speed of Pe-2 with M-82FN was only 338mph at 19,400ft. The common Pe-2 with M-105RA or PF engines varied from between 300mph to 335mph.
