Added Damage Effect Realism.
« on: February 24, 2009, 07:06:25 PM »
Why is it when i have a 20mm hole in my wing, there is no sense of damage, no lift loss, no drag..nothing. HTC would it be that hard to make negative effect due to damage graphic effect on someones aircraft?

-My Wish-

Windshield Bullet hole's making "wind sounds", hole's in wings reducing lift, creating drag and such.

I've got to admit, the realism for that specific area is 0. We have no "Wind" sound, no effect at all for anything of such; and most of all, the oxygen masks.

We do have a wind sound (turn your engine off and dive).  It would just need to be auto-cranked when bullets pierce the canopy.

Yeah, was more emphasis on the damage effect having effect on how the plane flys, and how the pilot feels while in the cockpit.

Sounds are secondary :P But on that note the wind would sound diffrent moving over a surfice at high speed, vs. being squeezed through a buncha bullet holes.

Think air rushing by, vs. air rushing IN.

Big time!

Fire actually like, burning stuff.  Like a pilot.  Basically make the pilot WANT to get out of the plane.

Wing structure strength/integrity compromised (you get a 151 in your wing, manage to hold on to it, don't pull to hard or it'll snap right off).

Control surface degredation due to surface damage/control lines snapping (the latter of course meaning you lose any and all elevator/aileron/rudder etc.).

Realistic engine damage (possibly individual cylinder modeling?), pilot wounds (all control inputs reduced by 30/50/70%, modeling of an actual bleedout rather then the random passouts we have now).

Self sealing fuel tank modeling should be better modeled- if you have a self sealing fuel tank, your leaks should be significantly less serious then an non-sealed system- unless of course you have a 20mm hole shot through your wing.

Speaking of fuel tanks- how about the trail from a fuel tank ends when the fuel does, eh?

Hit sprites that reflect type of damage indicated/matching ammo (small twinkles for .50 cal, big bad puffs for the 20mm, etc).
