I picked one up from Aimsurplus.  I haven't had a time to shoot it...

Finally, I took my toy to a range.

I zeroed in at 50 yards. One scope couldn't be zeroed in due unavailability of required tools. But scope that was sold with a rifle worked just fine.

There were three major problems that popped up; weapon was not cleaned before shooting, use of surplus ammunition and unfavorable weather full of gusts.

This is what target looks like from a scope.

That view is from 120-150 yards away.

Now due to use of surplus ammo and not cleaning, it made my grouping 'urinating' poor. Also random gusts of wing really messed everything up.  Also since I never had experience shooting scoped rifle, my marksmanship was lacking. But as time went on and I controlled breathing and trigger control, my grouping shrank. I can assume that with everything right, I will be able to accurately and consistently hit credit card size target at that range.

I found piece of metal laying around and placed a nice size dent on it.

Cleaning it during sunset was nice and 'romantic' :D De-assembly is very similar to SKS and AK. Quick and easy to clean.

Shooting PSL is fun! It's not a sniper rifle - that's for sure. But as a squad support to lay fairly accurate fire, it does job very well.

How is it for recoil and control under under rapid-fire use?
Treize (pronounced 'trays')- because 'Treisprezece' is too long and even harder to pronounce.

Nice review!  :aok
There must also be a flyable computer available for Nefarious to do FSO. So he doesn't keep talking about it for eight and a half hours on Friday night!

Never been a big fan of Dragunov's, but the price looks good. :aok

What's a good source for good 7.62x54R ammo? (not the steel cased stuff) I know Winchester makes/made brass, but I believe there's a problem with the primer pockets.

recoil; comparing it to M91/30, Mauser 98k or M44 - It's tame.  After 100 rounds, I didn't have a bruise.

Rapid-fire - I didn't rapid fire so I do not know.  But since it is a semi-auto, as quick as one can squeeze the trigger.  Problem comes with re-acquiring target.

Re-aquiring the target is a learned point with a scoped rifle. I learned many years ago that I was able to keep my eye in the scope of my .30-06 Model 700 through all 5 rounds and it is a bolt action rifle. It is fairly easy to do and just takes practice like all aspects of shooting.

I finally took PSL to a range, again, to zero it in - I'm almost there. It's hard to do so since lowest setting for scope is 0 and than 100.  Range I'm using is around 35 and 130.

Also, now I'm using correct 147 grain ammo.

This is five round shot after setting scope to somewhat between 0 and 100. I still have tweaking to do.  It was too hot to continue...

IIRC proper way to setup a battle rifle is for 300 yds?

Which would be hits dead on center but 2 inchs high at 100 yards?

Personally I have never had any desire to own a Russian weapon.  No interest in them at all.   Too many really good American and European weapons of quality out there to bother with a Russian firearm.

I'm not going to battle here and range scale on scope is from 0 to 10. One click is all that's needed to change range.
