Saitek SST and Windows 7
« on: July 17, 2009, 12:38:35 PM »
Anyone have the subject working?  I tried loading and running it from the CD that came with my Circuit City Closeout X-52 and downloaded from their site.  Neither one worked, the 3dviewer is missing and the the program exits when I try and do any programming.  I had to restore to a previous image in order get rid of Saitek's X-52 drivers and go back to the generic Win7 drivers which allows usage of all the buttons.

and go back to the generic Win7 drivers which allows usage of all the buttons.

Actually you can do more in AH this way than using the SST which means its not running in background

I use windows 7, and I also have installed SST ver 6.6.6.9 (the newest one on their website).

It works just fine.

And yes I do use SST for Aces High..  The majority of the buttons are programmed in through AH, but I have quite a few also programmed through SST... for example when I depress SHIFT+"C", it sends the "/" key to AH to open the text buffer (useful to see who is in range or on channel).  When I RELEASE SHIFT+"C", it sends "ENTER" to AH to close it.

SHIFT+T1 sends "/.salvo 1 <ENTER>... I use my throttle slider for my views... LEFT 33% sends F1 (cockpit view), MIDDLE 33% sends F3 (external view), RIGHT 33% sends F5 (god's eye).

This kind of stuff you can't program in through Aces High.

I also have bunches more programmed in.. literally the only thing I have to use the keyboard for is to type text messages.

http://www.saitekforum.com/showthread.php?t=17369 or http://www.saitek.com/uk/down/drivers.php

Who knows how old the SST is from the CD. no doubt you also installed the drivers for the stick with it. Go to the web sight and install the new ones, first uninstalling the old. Remember to save any profiles you have separate.

Tigger29, it sounds like you are talking about SST for a keyboard?

Rich46yo, I think I did load the drivers for the stick from the CD first then loaded them from the webpage.  If I decide to try again I'll burn an image first and then just load the drivers and software from the webpage.

NO SST for the X52...

the bottom trigger is used as a 'shift' button.  Holding it down assigns all new commands to all of the buttons.  "C" is button C on the joystick.. etc..

Ahh, the pinky switch, and I forget the buttons have letter labels after looking at the Windows game controller properties.

Well I tried SST again and still no luck after installing ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/vista/Saitek_X52_Flight_Controller_300107_64.exe as the stick driver and ftp://ftp.saitek.com/pub/software/sst_171006_64.exe as the SST program.  It tells me I'm missing SAI3DVIEWER.dll and the SST crashes when I try to edit anything.  I made an image before installing since I can't uninstall the driver and go back to the generic once it is in.

Tigger where did you find SST 6.6.6.9.?
I didn't look to see if the one I used it labeled that, just that it is the newest 64 bit version on the page.

Well I found the page with 6.6.6.9 and perhaps the most recent x52 drivers.  Now I just have to try again after dumping another image first.

I have noticed my X52 will not recognise software if I use a different USB port or a Hub.

633DH98,

I have been "Flying" AHII for a little over a year now.  Over the last year I have developed and posted, on the Forum, Saitek X52 Profiles for every Plane, Vehicle, and boat
available in the game.

See this link: http://bbs.hitechcreations.com/smf/index.php/topic,274899.0.html

It is correct to say that you do not need Profiles to "fly" the X52, but they add a great deal of flexability.

A number of "Flyers" have looked at, tried, and are now using the Profiles that I have developed.

I looked at your profiles and find them too different from the way I've been set up.  I also enjoy just building my own profiles.  I think I'm more into just playing with the game than playing the game.
