Vox that works when AH is minimized...
« on: May 04, 2009, 11:50:42 PM »
Title is fairly self-explanatory.  I've played a couple of other games where the in-game vox works even when the game is minimized.  This would allow players to be able to check email or view web pages while talking to squad mates in-game.  I don't know if this creates a burden on the software that would decrease performance, but I would find it a very useful feature.

For a more immediate solution you can try downloading Team Speak 2. It is a secure program that allows you to chat with other people connected to your server address. My squaddies and I use it all the time as it is clear, private, and you can talk while everything is minimized.

Or ventrillo for even better quality, fewer issues, problems.

I have and use both for other games.  I'd still like the in-game VOX, which I prefer over running TS and/or Vent in the background, to be useable while the game is minimized.

When I started gaming, I used ventrilo from day one.

One for Vent itself, one for better quality, and one for fewer problems. :)

The great thing about in-game vox is that I don't need another piece of software, and I don't have to have a TS or Vent server set up for my squad.  Plus, how many people do you talk to on "Range" when you're on TS or Vent?  Because if they're not on your TS or Vent server, they can't talk to you.  And, I've done enough special events where my squad was teamed up with people using Vent or TS and I couldn't hear any of their chatter.

I know that many people prefer TS and Vent.  That's fine--I hope it continues to work well for you.  My wish was for the in-game Vox to work even when AHII was minimized.  Ultimately, that wish doesn't have anything to do with TS or Vent.

I agree.  The ability to use the in-game vox even when AHII is minimized would be very nice.  I played Everquest II for a while, and its in-game vox was usable even when that game was minimized, and that was extremely handy.

Also, as Stoney has stated, his wish regards an improvement to the in-game vox.  The capabilities, or existence, of ventrillo and teamspeak are irrelevant to the point of this thread.
