I would agree with you, except that the P40B only has two 50-cals, even when fired separately from the 30-cals, seem to kill faster than the four 50's on the P51B (even in a sustained fire situation, not BnZ).  I know these guns are actually different 50-cals than the P51's, but I don't know what the difference actually is.

speed.

The Ma Deuce is the Ma Deuce. The a/c mounted weapon did differ from the ground weapon.

The M2's on the P40B (JUST the B model) are synchronized, so they have a slower rate of fire. ALL other M2 .50 caliber machine guns mounted in aircraft are the same.

So how many ground versions of the MD were mounted in a/c?

The other 4 guns on the B-model are 30 cals.

Speed has nothing to do with it.

As said before, it's just got to be the fact that they are coming out of the cowl and do much more damage to a concentrated area rather than spreading out.
I'm Sector95 in-game! :-D

He meant the B as compared to the E.

Angle of attack, figure (top view)  ///    \\\    Hitting a flat surface vs. ||

The more square the round is hitting the object the better, the difference between a  deep penetrating .50 cal vs. a grazing or ricochet. Difference between hitting a man square in his jaw, vs. glancing off his jaw bone.

And if you think this untrue, please take up a p40B (or any cannon/mg nose mounted A/C) vs. any x4 .50 cal winged A/C, fire only the x2 guns on that a/c for few flights.

That is why i ditch the .50's on the p39Q, the guns poor angle of attack make them almost not worth having (in a game) where in reality anything that hits, is better than not.

FIXED.

I was actually thinking of the .50s on the P-39 reading this thread.  The ones in the nose.

What?
What I meant was, that other than the guns on the P40B, which are synchronized so that they can fire through the propeller, ALL other M2 .50 caliber machine guns on fighters in the game are exactly the same regardless of what aircraft they are mounted on.
