One con maintains alt and watches, the other 5 dive on you for the gang.Dive strait down to the deck and pull up at about 1000ft, chances are 2 out of the 6 will hit the ground. Now, do a standard left or right turn, nothing fancy. Another 2 should by this time be overshooting you or hitting the ground. Now the last one on you who has been spraying from 1.5k out for the last 2 minutes should be out of ammo and runs. Then the guy who has been watching from a distance comes down, gives you a cold merge and kicks your arse. This to me atleast seems to be the average result.

I work on getting the fight right on the deck over trees. Trees are some of my best wingmen. I roll and change direction alot never race tracking vertical or horizontal. This is where learning to fly your plane with the least amount of airspeed comes in handy. You'll find the MMMS (mine mine mine syndrome) strong in most groups. Use that to your advantage and watch as they killshoot themselves into oblivion. Never just give up and you'll be surprised how the tide can turn as they thin out.
That is a pretty smart tactic. Borderline brillant really  :salute

I always like to kill LA, spits and 109s first because they got acceleration to catch up with alot of planes after a good reverse, other night I had 7 on me and I got out somehow I didnt think KI84 can actually stay in front of a spit but she did, landed 6 scalps  :rock

you make some costly mistakes in SA
and you find yourself flying into 6 enemy contacts a few high and a few co alt and a few below
a couple of the contacts are flying faster planes and a few are flying slower but more agile planes

I just wanted to hear what everyone else does in situations like this, where you are ganged and escape does not seem likely

when it happens to me, I know am going to die but I want to make it as hard as possible, so I dive to the deck and turn it into a dirty knife fight on the deck.

it happen to me a few nights ago, I was flying a FM2 and found myself facing 6 cons  and I chose to dive to the deck and try for overshoots, augers,  I find it thrilling to see how well I can do in these situations

I watch 6-8 guys taking 5 minutes to kill a spit 16 dweeber all the time.  Nothing new.  If however you aren't on easy mode, then just run carefully..or you're screwed.

I did something like this once (well several times), though I seem to be having trouble finding the film now.

It pretty much ended with a couple of them augering and a couple dieing to my guns. The last one died trying to strafe me while I was getting the ditch. He augered right after he passed over me, giving me one last kill before I ditched with no wings or tail.  :rofl

I find myself in this situation quite a bit. Some people mentioned dodging HOs. That's probably the toughest part. Most of the time from what I see, it's newer pilots (or not as skilled) tend to gang more than vets. Most "old timers" seem to just fly by seeing the guy's allready got 6 on him. All I do is make sure I'm always turning and take shots whenever I can.

The inferior capabilities of these fighters against the Mosquitoes made this a hopeless and uneconomical effort. 1.JD KTB

I think Skyrock is making an editorial comment.

The film works.

EDIT: Hmm, this film is from AH1. Could that be an issue? I guess maybe the AHII film viewer won't view the older films...sigh :(
