Nice combined strikes on city and HQ.  Despite the fact that Rooks had less people than either the Nits or the Bish, we put up one HELLUVA fite.

WTG Lepht and the others I flew with to put a hurt on the initial Bish strike on our city.  What could have easily been a city that was 100% damaged was only 75% damaged despite numerical superiority.  Can only be attributed to to some great Rook flying!

<S> to Camo, Busc, DB and all the other pilots I flew with from 35 to break up the forming Bish strike on our HQ from 28.  Although the bombers eventually got thru to down our dar, again we put up a helluva fite despite odds 3:1 against us.

Hope you get your reset tonite Bish.  Nice teamwork and numbers.

Hell yeah!

This was for sure a night to remember!  We were just organizing a joint operation with Busc's squad when I saw the huge sector bar in A28 sector. We immediately took off from A35 to intercept.  We first found two large groups of P51s west and north of the A28 island, which we thought were jabo groups heading to our home island.  We engaged them and managed to get some kills.

However, soon we realized that those were no damn jabos.  A large B17 formation was found at high altitude and they started to make its way south.  Even though we had pushed the two P51 formations (about 15 planes) low, there were still hordes of escort fighters around the B17s.  It was almost impossible to get within reach of them.

I can't but wonder what had happened if we hadn't found the two P51 sweeps in time!  They would have easily blast over our home island with the rooks being unable to defend.  I'm sure we managed to buy the rooks some time to defend and we were able to inflict heavy losses to the attacking group.

In the end, 15 B17's were just too much for us and they managed to level our HQ.  A few hours later started the huge joint bish raid which, I heard, ended in the arena reset.

But the krooks sure put up a hell of a fight.  Thanks Dingy, Snef, DB603, Busc & his gang - not to mention the rest of the valiant krooks!  I had a great time!!

Well done bishcuits, very well done!!

Correction, Camo  . Mission planner failed to launch us in time and we took off with almost 5 minutes of delay. By the time you were over us, the P51s were some 10k lower that you

Was a hell of a fight and great fun! <S> all!

So thats what it was then!  One reason why we thought you were jabos was the fact that you were quite low.

But in any case, if we hadn't been there, you would have easily climbed south and sweeped our home island... Was that your planned mission?

Nope Camo.. intent from the start was to run a sweep/screen of light ponies toward the rook interceptors and whittle your numbers down; keep you low.

As the raid progressed, more escorts upped and grabbed to us for the transit screen while you guys were engaged with the first group of low ponies. Citabria held us north of Injun Country till we got to 18k, gathered in the transit screen then we turned south. I checked my alt when I pickled my eggs.. in formation (gawd; whotta sight) and we were at 22k over the target. Most of us held half of our bombloads.. on the way back we trashed A35 and the port.

I beleive we left with 20 B17's.. and the escorts did their job very well; engaging and breaking off when the attackers went low. Not since the old CAB's runs have I seen such discipline in a bomber group; it's ecorts, or it's attackers. We recieved continous assaults from LW fighters all the way there and all the way back, and eventually lost nearly half of the bomber force... but not for lack of determination on the part of our escorts.. they were often outnumbered themselves. The rooks were putting up a heluva fight.. <S!>

maybe if such large bomber operations become more common, we could get rid of the poorly modeled bomber guns and install a more realistic armament??
