Formation Flying
« on: March 25, 2009, 10:59:51 AM »
Every try to get a group of guys to fly in formation for a bomber run?  Heh...probably one of the hardest things to accomplish (if not impossible) as a group in game.

For most players, the idea of a bomber formation means Same Sky, Same Day.  Though they all might lift off the runway together, by the time they reach the target theyre spread all over the sky.  Not too helpful when the bogies start diving in on your group and start picking you off one by one before you even reach target.

And I cant tell you how many players will miss their targets completely because theyre too busy shooting at bogies rather than paying attention to their drop.  Hey guys, remember, you have your lead and 2 drones with you, thats three planes to their one.  So what if you lose one bomber while youre calibrating, you still have 2 left and thats plenty to destroy your objective.

If you can find 2 other guys skilled enough to keep formation, thats 9 guns on 1 bogie rather than just your 3.  But who cares about the other guys right?  Seems its all about YOUR score rather than the success of the mission.

Most players dont have a clue what a bomber formation looks like so Ive uploaded a couple of diagrams that might help those interested enough to attempt a REAL formation.  The blue lines that connect 3 bombers are each individuals bomber formation.

Good luck though...cant tell you how many times Ive tried to achieve a successful formation.  Theres always someone who just doesnt seem to have the necessary pay attentions skills.

If there are a few of you out there whod be interested in practicing this skill Id LOVE to hear from you.

Heres a diagram for some fighter formations Ive thrown in just for kicks

What if the Hokey Pokey's REALLY what it's all about...
