A few noob questions

  1. What are the most forgiving aircraft/vehicles to start out with. I've been using the P-51D and I like it....it just seems too fast in a dogfight. I tried a T-34/76 and it seened ok except for the looking thru a keyhole to aim...I cant see any ground vehicles at distance..is there a binocular view or something?

 2. Am I always going to be with the bishops? I dont have a problem with that...but it makes the training arena a little difficult if I'm the only one.

 3. Whats the best way to quickly get into the action... I usually ask when I come in..but seldom get a straight answer, so I just pick a flashing airbase and launch

 I'll probably come up with a few more later

Try a spit9 to start with. Try a Panzer to start with.

In the TA, Bish are were the Trainers are, so I would stay bishops. If they are not though, you can go to the O'club, go to change country, then click on one of the countrues that you want to be in.

Best way to get in a furball, assuming that's what you are talking about, find places were you see a lot of red, or you can go to the furball lake in the DA, were there is always action, and not many good sticks.

Any of the spits are good beginner rides. some are a bit better at one thing or another, but over all are pretty close. good ammo, turns well, goes fast when you need it, and recovers easily for mistakes. I suggest the spit 8 or the 16

When in a vehicle and looking through the gun site (position #2) you can hit the "Z" key to zoom in, and the [ ] keys to move in and out more.

In the training arena you can fight other bishops. There is no "damage" done in the training arena so hitting bish, rook or knight is all set the same. You can be in a different country/team in each of the arenas. Bish in LW orange, rook in LW blue, Knight in MW if you like. To switch countries click on the Officers Club on the clipboard and then click switch countries. Your allowed to switch every 30 or 60 minutes, not sure which it is.

Once you select an arena give the map time to populate.... it could take a minute or two depending on your connection. Then look for the flashing bases. If bases are flashing, but there is no red "dar bar" in that sector it could be a gv raid, they don't show on radar, but will make a base flash.

If your interested in flying, look for the red AND green dar bars. If the bars are equal in length that fight are more closely matched in numbers, if one line is longer than the other, there are more on one side. Green is friendly radar numbers, red are enemy.

I would agree the spits are good beginer planes but so is the N1K Nikki and the Yak9U.

When I started flying AH for the first time I started in a Yak because of three things

1 It "can outrun what it cant out turn". This is a good thing because it forced me to learn a little about the other planes.

2 Itīs gun package. The Yak has a good cannon but it has a low ammo load. I wanted to learn to aim not just get a few stray kills/assists through spray & pray gunnary.

3 Bouble cockpit. Good views are crusial in the begining.

I agree a yak is a good beginner plane, though I'd still say start with spits to learn how to fly, then switch to the yak to learn how to fight.

Whilst I'm at it, since Tex covered the pros, Ill cover some of the yak's cons (imho):

1. Small target profile, harder for the enemy to hit you.
Now isn't that a good thing? Yes it is, but in my case it got me habituated to getting away with a con close on my tail shooting at me. This is acceptable in a yak and you more often than not live through it, but when you switch to a larger aircraft later on, you will have trouble. I know, I switched from a yak to a P38  :lol :lol.

2. Glass radiator. A single shot seems to give you a radiator leak. This may infact have contributed to my "better on the six than in front" habits  :o  :lol

3. Poor Air to Ground practice. You wont be dive bombing much in yak9U.

4. Not an aircraft to hunt bombers in. Often you will be out of ammo, just trying to bring down a single B17.

The Yak9Us cousin, the yak9T is better at Nos 3 and 4, but be warned its a slightly different airplane. A bit underpowered compared to the 9U, but one of my favorite rides to kill bomber formations with.

Try each of the planes mentioned, and perhaps a few of the ones not mentioned.
Then pick one and put some serious time into mastering it. Learn exactly what you can and can not do with it.

Turn off stall limiter if its not already, good for helping someone new get up and flying.
But will limit what you can get out of your plane.

Hmmm either you ment Turn on stall limiter  to help the new guy fly or Turn off the stall limiter because you wount learn to fly properly with it on. But what you said doesnt make sence stall limiter off will never limit what you can get out of a plane.

One thing about this.

Yes fastest way to the action is to up at a field that is flashing but this also means that you are likely to fight at a disadvantage. Upping at a field that has enemy fighters above it is quite dificult. This is one of the biggest sources of frustration for new pilots. Launch at a caped field and you get killed, killed, killed and then in frustration you just fly head on at the first enemy and try to take him out with a HO shot. This does not help you evolve as a pilot.

Comming from other games people are often used to fast paced action that is one click away. It can be that way in AH2 as well but thats what I described above. Instead try to relax a bit and be a bit more patient. Patience is the most important thing for a pilot.

If the field is caped launch at the neighbouring field. Take the 5 extra min to fly over to the caped field and come in with some altitude. Your enemies are gonna be looking down on the runway for targets and not into the sky. From here make an asesment of the situation and engage the biggest threats first. Dont burn your altitude and advantage right away by diving in on some low and slow target. This way your fights will get longer, you will get more action, you will die less and you will kill more.

 I'm getting better I think. I've been flying a P-47N. I actually got 3 kills and an assist yesterday before getting shot down. I have yet to successfully land, even after reading all of the landing info and posts I can find... I'm having trouble getting slow enough....I cant seem to get under 200 knots without totally cutting my engine. I also think I really need to invest in a set of rudder pedals.

Rudder is a big help in both turning in fights, as well as slowing your plane to land. Cutting your engine is ok to do for landing. I throttle back to 0, and push full rudder  to get the plane to crab sideways to slow it. As I drop under 200 I roll out a few notches of flaps and then straiten up my rudder to fly strait again. Use your throttle to control your speed and rate of descent, and drop gear under 150.

Whats your in game name?

Go HERE select pilot score for infor on your hit % number of kills and such, or select plane to find out which plane killed the most or which you died in the most type info. Select the tour of info your looking for...you can compare older tours to newer to see if you improved or not.. type your name in and it will pull the info for you.
