Using USB Headset and Speakers at same time possible?
« on: March 31, 2009, 05:52:33 PM »
I have a Logitech USB Headset and, also, desktop speakers connected to my sound card.  When my headset is connected, my speakers will not play.  Looking at the settings, I have a choice of Logitech USB Headset or SB Live! 24-bit as my default audio device.

Is there a way to have sound through both speakers (connected to my sound card) and through my USB headset?  Or do I just unplug my headset whenever I want to use the speakers?

Thanks,
Gooss

Windows can only use one sound device at a time.  If you want sound through the speakers and a headset, you would have needed to get a regular headset and plug it into the sound card.

If the USB headset allowed sound to be played through the sound card, then the sounds would be effectively being played twice by the operating system which is not a good idea.
