IMDB categorizes it as Comedy/Drama.

That says a lot for "accuracy" I suppose.

Just the little info I read on there, the first question it raises is, why would what's left of the Union cease to exist if the South was successful in gaining it's independence?  It is like Great Britain ceasing to exist after the Revolutionary War.

I'll have to see if I can find it somewhere and watch it.

actually is was written and directed by Kevin Willmont. He is a film professor at KU. I remember when it first came out i was in college there and they had some screenings of it on campus.  I thought it was an interesting movie, but i always liked the what if this major event had gone differently style of movie.  They show it on IFC sometimes.  I think it is worth at least one watching if you like history at all.  I would like to have seen what it could have been if it had had a real budget behind it.  I think it was pretty well written but you can tell they had low budget actors which detracted from the movie to a degree.

You went to KU.  i sorry to hear that.
