Getting Mic To Work

The mic I have works in Left 4 Dead, but I can't get it to work here.  I've tried following the mic support guide but no luck, any ideas?

The best baseline test for a microphone is Windows Sound Recording, found within the "accessories>entertainment" option of your program folder. Assuming you're successful playing back a recorded sound, go to EDIT > AUDIO PROPERTIES > SOUND RECORDING > VOLUME and check to see which recording device is checked. Finally, check to see that your volume sliders are properly set in the AH VOICE set-up.
