The rest of the things you posted I agree with, I'm not to sure on this one, drinking a can of pop decreases the oxygen in my blood 25%, so what happens after that 4th can?  Plus this kinda sounds like those new bottled waters that are supposed to have more oxygen in them, I think it's called "H2o" or something, to help you stay healthier, guess what, I just took a really deep breath of this stuff all around me call air, it seems to be packed full of oxygen, just what my body needs, and I'm sure that breath replaced whatever oxygen that was displaced by the CO2 in my pop. :D

Plus don't you burp out most of that CO2 that was in the pop?

Watch out trax unless you have one of those air purifiers in every room that air you're breathing has allergy spores and animal dander in it and is bad for your heath. Just to be on the safe side you should stop breathing immediately!

Try carbonated water?

Carbonated water is soda water.

Australians use the word 'soda' differently, I believe.

You know man...  I think just about all things are ok in moderation..  Soda (Soda Pop9) is in the moderation category I think..
Although, some people could probably get by with nothing more than a few cavities throughout their lives, others will suffer from
diabetes (among other things) that will eventually kill them..

And, I probably should've checked that info up on Snopes (for whoever posted those links, sorry forget, but thanks)..

All in all, we know soda isn't the best thing for you..  Plus, if I'm drinking soda, I'm going to drink something that actually sugar instead
of corn syrup...  Unfortunately, that means I have to go to the Mexican Tienda..  And then I end up spending more money that I want
buying tortillas and what not..

incredible.... I drink about two cans a week, absolute maximum. Nothing to be proud of though, i smoke, drink coffee and never get enough sleep so I'm going to die anyhow.
And I don't know much, but I do know this. With a golden heart comes a rebel fist.

Between two evils, I always pick the one I never tried before.

Depends, if I'm at work usually a 20oz bottle underway otherwise it's juice or water.  At home a can or two.  If I'm at a party then I'll drink quite a few, just to stay awake to make sure no one does anything stupid when they're drunk and then drive them all home.

I am a huge pop addict, however I just told my wife this morning NOT to buy any more soda.  Instead I have asked her to pick up some Rose's Lime cordial which, when added to sparkling water, is a soda type drink without all the sugar.

I used to drink a twelve pack of mtn dew a day until I became a diabetic

#1 reason for not living on fizzy drinks. if your going to drink something sugary, it might as well be beer :aok

I have a can or 2 a week, never the diet stuff (aspartame has a really nasty aftertaste imo).

http://www.snopes.com/cokelore/acid.asp
http://www.snopes.com/medical/myths/8glasses.asp

this is my big problem with snopes - their objective is to debunk stuff, not weed out the truth.

eg the water thing. dehydration certainly has a very noticeable effect on concentration. maybe you can live without water if your diet includes large amounts of fresh fruit and vegetables. a diet of burgers and fries will not come close to providing enough water. underhydrating does have harmful effects, overhydrating requires very large quantities of water. if you drink 8 glasses of water a day, you will avoid dehydration but wont come close to consuming too much water. it is therefore a good rule of thumb. the figures provided can only apply to a sedentary lifestyle, if you do any kind of exercise at all 8 glasses seems reasonable. anyone who has done any kind of physical training will know that 8 glasses doesnt even come close.

as for the phosphoric acid, they imply that because the concentration is so low, it will have negligible effects. rubbish. coke is not only an excellent degreaser but will even eat through circuit board components and insulators quite happily. I have replaced numerous console boards and modules and the culprit has almost always been - cans of coke spilt on the desk. im not a medic so cant say how it effects the GU system though.

the CO2 thing does have the whiff of BS about it though :)

Yeah.... but circuit boards aren't covered in stomach acid are they?

How strong is stomach acid? It ruins paint too, doesn't it? Factor in the fact that soft drinks don't just 'sit' in one place whilst in your body or stay in there for very long.... I reckon it's all a load of crap.
